Land Acknowledgement

The researchers involved in The Extinction Paradox project live and work on Indigenous territories across the continent - many unceded, others where treaties were signed but have since been infringed upon. These especially include the unceded territories of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), q̓íc̓əy̓ (Katzie), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), Qayqayt, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, Tsawwassen and T’Sou-ke Nations. The research also often focuses on Treaty 8 territory, particularly the lands of Treaty 8 signatories West Moberly First Nations and Saulteau First Nation, who are leading efforts to recover endangered caribou.
